Sealed Air (NYSE:SEE) today announced the acquisition of Intellibot Robotics LLC, a U.S.-based privately owned company that has pioneered the development of robotic commercial floor cleaning machines. The acquisition includes certain intellectual property, the manufacturing and engineering operations in Richmond, Virginia, and sales. The business will be integrated into Sealed Air’s Diversey Care division and its leading brand of TASKI floor cleaning machines.
Smurfit Kappa is pleased to announce that it has agreed to acquire Inspirepac, a non-integrated corrugated, high quality print and display business in the UK from the Logson Group. Inspirepac is a private company with 279 employees, and operates two packaging plants and a further two erecting plants in the North of England. The transaction will further enhance Smurfit Kappa’s market leading position in the UK market, and build on our existing capabilities in the high quality print and Point of Sale market segments.

DS Smith, a leading provider of corrugated packaging and displays, is expanding its digital printing capabilities to provide customers faster turnarounds and mass customization with the HP T400 Simplex Color Inkjet Web Press. The HP T400 Simplex Color Inkjet Web Press represents a significant expansion of the company’s digital capabilities and was installed in DS Smith’s Belper, Derbyshire, UK site in March 2015. The press will enable DS Smith to produce high-quality corrugated boxes as well as cost-effective customized output with the potential for every printed piece to be unique at speeds up to 600 feet per minute (183 meters per minute).

The brands involved in the transaction include, among others: Coup de pouce, Elle Québec, Décormag, Le Bel Âge Magazine, recettes.qc.ca, Canadian Living, Style at Home, Elle Canada, Good Times, The Hockey News, etc. However, Vancouver Magazine and Western Living in the TC Media portfolio continue to be owned by Transcontinental Inc.
R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company, announced today that LibreDigital, a service of the RR Donnelley Digital Solutions group, has been awarded a multi-year agreement to provide eBook services to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Trade Publishing. Under the terms of the agreement, which marks the renewal of the companies' relationship, LibreDigital will provide eBook asset management and delivery services to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's business partners and retailers. The services will be provided by LibreDigital's state-of-the-art digital asset and distribution platform called Harvest. This cloud-based platform provides publishers with access to hundreds of global sales channels and allows titles and accompanying metadata to become available immediately upon release.
Staples Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLS) announced today that it has collected 450 million ink and toner cartridges for recycling in the U.S. since 2005, averaging more than 60 million cartridges per year for the past four years. Through the cartridge recycling program, Staples has helped recover and recycle 234 million pounds of plastics and metals, diverting roughly the weight of 8,000 full garbage trucks from landfills. "At Staples, we are committed to reducing waste going to landfills and reusing valuable resources through our recycling services," said Mark Buckley, vice president, environmental affairs, Staples.
