North American Communications (NAC), a printing, mailing and fulfillment operation that billed itself as one of the largest bi-national, fully integrated direct mail printing operations in North America, suddenly closed its Duncansville, Pa., headquarters location on Monday, May 20, resulting in job losses for the 201 employees who worked at the 180,000-sq.-ft. Duncansville production facility. NAC's portfolio of direct mail services included envelope production, forms and commercial printing, data processing, imaging, bindery, lettershop, mailing and commingling. It serviced high-volume direct mail marketers within several vertical markets, including financial services, insurance, health care and nonprofits. In addition, in recent years NAC had ventured into high-speed inkjet printing, operating Océ ColorStream continuous-feed inkjet presses from Canon Solutions America for color variable digital output.
