Ensuring vibrant, growing commercial printing companies makes good business sense for the local economies and job markets where they are located. The Jefferson City (Mo.) Council confirmed that fact last week when it approved an economic development tax incentive revenue bond that will enable Modern Litho to acquire a new, automated sheetfed offset press and eventually add 50 new jobs, reported the News Tribune. According to the newspaper, the tax benefit during the course of the seven-year term of the abatement will amount to approximately $310,597, factoring in the depreciation of the press over that time period. Specifically, Modern Liho plans to install a 10-color Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 sheetfed offset perfector equipped with double coaters, which will shorten job turnaround times and increase Modern Litho’s printing output capacity by about 30%. “What we are doing is not the norm in the industry. Printing companies who are not investing and growing are withering,” Cassandra Atchison, marketing coordinator for Modern Litho, said to the News Tribune. “We are continuing to invest in the latest print technology and expanding our capabilities.”
Allen Press, Inc. was honored with 16 awards at the 2018 Gold Ink Awards presented by Printing Impressions. The Gold Ink Awards are known as one of the print industry’s most prestigious competitions with over a 100 companies competing in nearly 50 categories, including commercial printing, magazines, books, catalogs, digital printing and packaging.
“The Gold Ink Awards signify some of the best printers in the world. Winning 16 awards not only confirms our world class print quality, but is a direct reflection of our high-tech, modern pressroom and the extensive knowledge and experience of our team,” said Allen Press Executive Vice President, Maria Preston-Cargill.
Allen Press has significantly expanded its new printing technologies and capabilities to be the Midwest’s most versatile full-service commercial printer. This includes a state-of-the-art digital production center and recent additions of a Brausse 1050SFi diecutter and foil stamper and a Mueller Martini Tempo 22, considered to be the world’s fastest saddle stitcher.
“As we continue to grow and enhance our services, it’s critical that we maintain our superior print quality. Winning awards in new categories such as catalogs, media kits, calendars and programs shows that we are sustaining this quality across our new innovative equipment and technologies and delivering the results our customers have come to expect,” added Preston-Cargill.
