Net sales for the second quarter of 2015 were $914.2 million, a decrease of $3.1 million, or 0.3 percent, as compared to $917.3 million in 2014. This decrease was the result of a decrease in net sales in the closures and plastic container businesses due partly to the impact of unfavorable foreign currency translation, partially offset by an increase in net sales in the metal container business. Income from operations for the second quarter of 2015 was $78.3 million, a decrease of $7.8 million, or 9.1 percent, as compared to $86.1 million for the second quarter of 2014, and operating margin decreased to 8.6 percent from 9.4 percent for the same periods. The decrease was the result of a decrease in income from operations in each business.
