Penguin Random House India has acquired Hind Pocket Books, one of the oldest and best-known Hindi-language publishers in the country. PRH sees the purchase as another step in building PRH India’s presence in local-language publishing. The company entered that part of the market in 2005, when Penguin began its Hindi publishing program. PRH has since built a significant catalogue of acclaimed titles. Midland Paper, Packaging + Supplies today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Shaughnessy, Kniep, Hawe Paper Company (“Shaughnessy”), one of the oldest and most respected independently-owned paper merchants in the United States. Founded over 135 years ago, Shaughnessy is a full-line, full-service merchant distributor of Printing and Writing Papers, Book Publishing Papers, Magazine and Catalog Papers, Digital and Specialty Substrates, Wide Format Graphics, Graphic Supplies and Packaging. The transaction is expected to close on September 18, 2015.
