Mondi to showcase professional printing papers at Frankfurt Bookfair

Mondi, the international packaging and paper Group, will exhibit its wide range of professional paper solutions for book printing at the Frankfurt Bookfair held from 11 to 15 October in Frankfurt, Germany. The Mondi booth is located in Hall 4 / Booth F94. As a professional printing paper manufacturer, Mondi offers sustainable paper solutions for all printing technologies and needs. PERGRAPHICA® design papers – exhibited for the first time at the highly renowned Frankfurt Bookfair – complement Mondi’s offering at the high end of its professional print portfolio. It is called ‘Paper for Perfectionists’ because it fulfils the most demanding requirements for sophisticated and elegant printed documents – ideally suited for book printing projects. Graphic designers, advertising agencies and fine book publishers are just a few of the creative industries that will appreciate PERGRAPHICA®’s variety of options: two textures (Rough and Smooth), three shades (High White, Classic and Natural) and six grammages between 90 and 300 g/m2.

As a hybrid paper, PERGRAPHICA® works well with all printing technologies. It delivers consistent, high-quality results whether used for offset or digital printing. It is also well-suited to a variety of post-print processing such as cellophaning, embossing, creasing, die-cutting and more.

The NEUJET® portfolio will also be presented at the Frankfurt Bookfair. It represents Mondi’s next generation of high-speed inkjet papers optimized for medium to heavy color book printing applications. The portfolio is offered in two quality levels, standard and premium, and two surface finishes, matte and silk, closing the gap to coated offset printing. Publishers and book printers will be able to see books printed on DNS® high-speed inkjet and DNS® premium – testament to our wide paper portfolio dedicated for inkjet printers.

The IQ color range encompasses 36 standard colors, from soft pastels to bright neons and bold black. Book printers can experience the superb colour uniformity and consistency of IQ color in the new Visual Book – the “Art of Seeing” – with its smooth surface and even fibre distribution for high-quality printing and itself a piece of art. It invites people to take a journey through colour and explore visual phenomena and perception. Mondi’s tinted papers achieve top print results whether using digital laser, hybrid or offset printing technologies. IQ color also features a high degree of light-fastness for a print product that will last for years.  “IQ color delivers better print quality and more flexibility than you expect – the possibilities are endless”, added Klumpp.

Jutta Wacht, Art Director at the creative agency Say Say Say, Inc., which designed the book, was impressed by the variety of weights and formats in which IQ color is available, from A4 and A3 to folio sheets and reels. “The great number of formats and different grammages show that IQ color is perfectly suited to professional printing. Its good printability showed us that you can easily use colourful paper for a book project or a catalogue,” she said.

Stora Enso invests EUR 9 million in an automated CLT (cross-laminated timber) coating line at the Ybbs sawmill in Austria. The investment will further strengthen Stora Enso’s position as a leading global provider of engineered wood products for low carbon, sustainable buildings. In the construction industry, there is labor shortage and a pressure to shorten the construction time on-site. The investment enables industrially pre-applied CLT coatings on the CLT walls and floors produced at Stora Enso’s Ybbs site. The automated coating solution results in shorter construction times and higher wood protection. “With this new automation line, we can apply high-quality water-based coating to approximately 500,000m² of CLT walls and floors per year – making us the world leader in this segment. Norske Skog: The boards’ final recapitalization proposal

The key terms of the proposed recapitalization transaction are: - Issuance of a new senior secured EUR 250 million bond loan carrying 8.5 % interest with a 2022 maturity to the owners of the EUR 290 million bond loan and the EUR 100 million NSF-facility. The new bond loan will have the same collateral security as today's secured debt. The existing claims of the secured bond loan holders and NSF-lenders in excess of EUR 250 million, including accrued interest, will be converted to equity. - The conversion into equity of all outstanding unsecured bond debt amounting to approximately EUR 500 million including accrued interest. - After such conversions, the equity ownership of Norske Skogindustrier ASA will be split as follows: a. Secured note holders: 91.0 % b. Unsecured noteholders: 6.3 % c. Existing shareholders: 2.7 % - The board will propose an equity offering by Norske Skogindustrier ASA of up to approximately NOK 500 million with preferential rights for existing unsecured bondholders and shareholders, allocated by approximately NOK 300 million to the unsecured bondholders and approximately NOK 200 million to the shareholders. If fully subscribed, this will entail an increase in their ownership interest from 9 % to approximately 28 %. The subscription price will be set at a valuation of 6x the revised 2017 GOE guidance of EUR 75 million. - Warrants will be issued for up to 10 % of the equity in Norske Skogindustrier ASA to those who have subscribed to the above equity offering. The warrants entitle the holders to subscribe for shares if the sum of the group's average net debt and market value exceeds EUR 525 million in a consecutive period of 6 months prior to 30 June 2019. Duluth’s paper mill to be sold again with promises of new jobs (startribune.com)

Duluth's longtime paper mill is expected to be sold to an Italian paper products company, about a year into operations as ST Paper. Sofidel, which operates several plants in the United States, expects to not only preserve but add employees, said ST Paper spokesman Bill Broydrick. "This is good news," he said of expanding operations at the mill, which first opened in 1987 and is a major taxpayer and utility customer, employing about 100. Both Duluth's City Council and St. Louis County commissioners need to sign off on two aspects of the deal, and that could happen this month.
