Appleton Coated congratulates the U360 Design Competition’s 2016 winners and presents them in “Peak,” the new printed showbook, which is also featured in a online gallery at appletoncoated.com. Five creative professionals from the Appleton Coated Design Council evaluated hundreds of entries and selected the best examples demonstrating the impact of well-executed print. “Reaching the peak of creativity is never a safe and orderly endeavor. It is a determined effort,” says Ferkó X. Goldinger, Appleton Coated’s marketing manager. “These visionary victors guided the best ideas upwards with excellent execution. The winning entries exemplify the showbook’s theme of ‘Peak’. It showcases work that bends print to its creative will and creates lasting impressions that leave the viewer elevated. There’s only room for a few at the peak. The U360 Showbook celebrates those who blazed new trails, crossed more chasms, and set their sights high.” Now in its eighth year, U360 celebrates design, content and printing excellence, and all that paper makes possible. R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (RRD) (NYSE:RRD) (the “Company”), a leading global provider of multichannel solutions for marketing and business communications, today announced it has received the 2017 CIO 100 Award from IDG’s CIO. The 30th annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).
“Technology innovation and business value have always been at the heart of our CIO 100 awards, which honor the IT organizations thriving on the front lines of the digital revolution,” said Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief, CIO Events. “This year’s winning companies are outstanding examples of how IT leadership, business collaboration and customer engagement are shaping the future.”
Recipients of this year’s CIO 100 Award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of external judges (many of them former CIOs) reviewed the applications in depth, looking for leading-edge IT practices and measurable results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges’ evaluations and selected the final 100.
RRD was recognized for developing a cognitive computing solution that leverages predictive analytics and advanced data management solutions. The model addresses a critical and growing need to extract meaningful information from vast data sources, and to translate that information into actions that are results-driven and effective.
“Innovation is integral to our history, and as a 150-year-old company, we understand the importance of reinvention in a rapidly changing communications environment. Technology is central to our innovation and we will continue to expand our IT capabilities to better serve our customers, empower our employees, and provide integrated multi-channel solutions that enable the future of innovative communications,” said Ken O’Brien, EVP and CIO of RRD. “We are incredibly proud to receive this CIO 100 Honor and congratulate our team members for this important recognition.”
