DS Smith awarded first PS9000 Pharmaceutical accreditation

We have achieved another important milestone of DS Smith Pharma. DS Smith Neath, Neath, located in South Wales, UK, has been awarded the PS 9000 pharmaceutical accreditation. The accreditation validates the Neath site to produce printed cartons for the pharmaceutical sector.

DS Smith Pharma business unit has come a long way from its launch in 2016. We created a network and a central team of packaging strategists to support customers’ needs in the most efficient manner, globally. We built a dedicated offering of solutions and services for the pharmaceutical and medical market, in order to respond to the market expectations to optimize the buying process, manufacturing and delivery. The accreditation of a PS 9000 for the Neath sheet plant, located in the South Wales in the UK, is a step to the next level in our pharmaceutical market approach.

PS 9000 is a global certification developed by the Pharmaceutical Quality Group (PQG) for the pharmaceutical packaging supply industry, and it defines specific requirements and guidance for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in conjunction with implementation of the appropriate quality and monitoring systems, including full reporting and traceability.

“Having been an accredited BRC supplier for over ten years, our GMP standards are extremely high, which enabled us to have a smooth transition to PS9000” Comments Lyndon Powell, DS Smith Neath General Manager. “The PS9000 accreditation confirms the sites continuous improvement culture and should provide reassurance to prospective and existing customers that the site is manufacturing to the highest possible standards.”

DS Smith Neath already supplies cartons to the food, drink and nutritional sectors. The implementation of this accreditation will now enable the site to offer its extensive range of packaging solutions to the pharmaceutical sector.
