Westrock Coffee Bolsters Single Serve Beverage Cup Production

Westrock Coffee is expanding its US operations with a new manufacturing facility in Conway, Arkansas, to produce millions of single-serve coffee cups daily.

The private-label coffee and tea manufacturer, one of the largest in North America, opened the facility to meet rising demand from “existing and new” global customers, including “some of the largest retail and coffee brands in the region.”

“The single-serve category is evolving rapidly, and we are scaling our operations to meet our customers’ needs,” says Will Ford, chief operating officer at Westrock Coffee.

The company identifies rising global demand for “single-serve coffee” solutions. For example, according to Westrock Coffee, the coffee pods market, valued at US$35.3 billion in 2024, is projected to more than double to US$71.2 billion by 2034 as consumers seek “fast, high-quality coffee with added convenience.”

Lecta to Increase the Prices of Label Papers by 7%

Lecta announ​ces a price increase of 7% on its different grades for labelling applications: coated 1s, metallized papers, cast coated and self-adhesive papers. The price increase is unavoidable to offset the continuous increase in manufacturing costs due to the rising costs of pulp and other raw materials. The new prices will be effective on deliveries from April 2th, 2018. Lollicup® USA, Inc. Brings Manufacturing Back to the U.S.

In 2017, Lollicup's Reifenhauser extruder, which produces plastic sheets from resin, became completely operational. By adding this machine, they were able to cut energy use by about 20 percent and improve production by 40 percent, allowing more products to be produced domestically. "The extruder is capable of making thicker, higher quality sheets of plastic," said Production Supervisor Ron Gonzales. "These sheets are used to form Karat® cups and lids." 2017 also saw the initial phases of a new manufacturing plant in Rockwall, Texas. The manufacturing plant is projected to be operational in 2018 and will allow Lollicup to produce more products, in addition to adding products to their Karat and Karat Earth™ lines.
