AF&PA Applauds Removal of Paper Bag Fee

Stora Enso appoints Tuomas Hallenberg as Executive Vice President of the Forest division and a member of the Group Leadership Team (GLT). He will join Stora Enso during the fourth quarter of 2024 and report to President and CEO of Stora Enso, Hans Sohlström. In this role, Hallenberg will succeed Per Lyrvall who will retire at the end of the first quarter 2025. Tuomas Hallenberg has long and diverse experience in forest business leadership. He is currently working as Senior Vice President, Property Development and Renewables, for Metsähallitus (the Finnish national forest company managing forest land and territorial water areas exceeding 12 million hectares). Prior to that, he has held several leadership roles at Metsähallitus since 2014. Between 1998 and 2014, Tuomas held various leadership and management roles at UPM, mainly in the wood sourcing and forest operations. He has a Master of Science degree in Forestry and a Master of Business Administration degree.

Stora Enso has decided to invest approximately EUR 79 million in a new production line for cross laminated timber (CLT) at its Ždírec sawmill in the Czech Republic. The investment will further enhance Stora Enso’s position as a global provider of high-quality engineered wooden elements and as a market leader in CLT. Production is scheduled to begin during the third quarter of 2022. The estimated annual production capacity will be approximately 120 000 m³ after ramp-up. The investment is expected to generate annual sales of approximately EUR 70 million when run at full capacity and to meet the Wood Products division’s profitability target of 20% operational return on operating capital (ROOC).

Effective with all new and existing orders with confirmed delivery dates of April 22, 2018 or later, Verso Corporation is increasing the transaction price of all Coated Freesheet Sheets and Sheeter Roll grades, including but not limited to: Sterling® Premium sheets/sheeter rolls; Sterling® Premium Digital™ sheets/sheeter rolls; Sterling® Premium Digital™ for HP Indigo sheets/sheeter rolls; Anthem Plus® sheets/sheeter rolls; Blazer Digital® sheets/sheeter rolls. The increase applies to all basis weights, bulks, finishes and related private label grades.
