Total European shipments of graphic papers in January 2017 were down 1.2% vs. January 2016.
Total European shipments of newsprint in January 2017 were down 3.8% vs. January 2016.
Total European shipments of sc-magazine in January 2017 were down 10.4% vs. January 2016.
Total European shipments of coated mechanical reels in January 2017 were UP 6.7% vs. January 2016.
Total European shipments of uncoated mechanical (improved & others) in January 2017 were UP 14.8% vs. January 2016.
Total European shipments of coated woodfree in January 2017 were down 1.2% vs. January 2016.
Total European shipments of uncoated woodfree in January 2017 were down 4.4% vs. January 2016.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s statement on business related to Russia

We have initiated a centralized crisis alert team on the first day of the invasion to carry out our Business Contingency and Preparedness Response Plan. Our primary focus is on the safety and well-being of our 87 employees in our Tver plant in Russia, and that manufacturing, and customer service continue in normal order. Of Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s 45 manufacturing and converting facilities globally, one is located in Russia, in the city of Tver. The factory is part of the company’s Glass Fiber Tissue business, which operates a similar production facility in Finland in the city of Karhula. Ahlstrom-Munksjö has recently started the construction works of a new line in Madisonville, Kentucky, U.S. Russia represented 1.3% and Ukraine 0.1% of Group's pro forma net sales of EUR 3,077 million in 2021.

FPAC Statement on Uncoated Groundwood Duties

The US Department of Commerce imposed unwarranted countervailing duties up to 9.93% on imported Canadian uncoated groundwood paper (newsprint). Forest Products Association of Canada strongly believes that these duties are completely unjustified and protectionist in nature. We call on the federal government to stand with us and the over 4,500 hard-working Canadians from British Columbia to Newfoundland and Labrador who could be impacted by this frivolous trade action. As it has with the softwood lumber dispute, this trade action will bring real harm to U.S. workers and businesses, impacting over 600,000 American jobs. We applaud the leadership of the many Democratic and Republican U.S. Senators, and the publishers of over one thousand small and medium-sized U.S. newspapers who have demanded that Washington not impose countervailing and anti-dumping duties on Canadian newsprint.
