Kruger Announces Newsprint/UGW price Increase
Kruger has announced a US$40/MT (45 gsm) newsprint price increase effective on all shipments made on or after June 1, 2018. The transaction price for all other basis weights and other Uncoated Groundwood products (Krubook and Krubrite) will be adjusted accordingly.

New sheeting line at UPM Kymi strengthens UPM’s graphic paper offering
The fourth sheeting line at the UPM Kymi paper mill started full production at the end of October, strengthening UPM’s position on the market for graphic fine paper sheets. The new sheeting line, comprised of a folio sheeter, conveyors and a packaging line further expands the paper production area of the UPM Kymi integrated mill site. The new line was built in a space previously used as a warehouse, specifically converted for this purpose. The project was safely and successfully completed despite restrictions of Covid-19. Start-up took place on 24 September and performance tests have been conducted throughout October. The new line will produce coated and uncoated graphic fine paper sheets.
AF&PA Applauds EPA‘s Proposed Boiler Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) Rule
American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) President and CEO Heidi Brock issued the following statement regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Boiler Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) proposed rule: “AF&PA is pleased the EPA has moved forward in proposing an achievable Boiler Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) rule. This is the result of more than two decades of work that gives the forest products industry regulatory certainty while encouraging the use of renewable, carbon-neutral fuel. “While limits for several boiler types have become more stringent, we believe they are feasible and affordable. Already, to date, our industry has invested $1 billion in controls to meet Boiler MACT obligations.
