Canfor to Invest $40M to Upgrade Camden, SC Mill

I’m excited to announce our plans to invest $40 million in our Camden mill in South Carolina, which will increase the mill’s capacity by 50 percent. Upon completion, the Camden mill will be Canfor’s highest-producing US mill.

The Camden facility has always been one of our top-performing mills. In addition to significantly boosting the mill’s production capacity, the upgrades will further enhance our first quartile performance in safety and quality. With this major investment, the Camden plant will continue to be a stable and significant employer in this region, paying good wages and benefits to our valuable employees.

The upgrades, which will begin later this year, will include an upgraded new planer mill, a new continuous dry kiln to increase drying capacity, as well as new Sawmill equipment that will help increase the mill’s production capacity. Work is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The Camden mill has been in operation since 1983 and joined the Canfor group of companies in 2006 as part of the acquisition of New South Companies Inc.
