AmPrima™ PE Plus prequalifies for How2Recycle® store drop-off label

Amcor, a leading global developer and producer of responsible packaging, has received prequalification to carry How2Recycle’s® store drop-off label on consumer packaging for a variety of barrier and non-barrier specs in the AmPrima™ PE Plus heat resistant portfolio, subject to conditions like product application and final package design.

“This is exciting for Amcor and our customers. It’s an outstanding step forward as we work toward our commitment to make all of our packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025,” said Amcor Flexibles North America Sales and Marketing Vice President Laurel Spencer.

“Prequalification saves time, cost, and reduces risk for brand-owners and retailers by eliminating the need to engage external labs for recycle-ready testing in the development phase. In short, it allows our customers to take their packaging straight from package development to How2Recycle to request usage of the How2Recycle store drop-off label,” said Spencer.

Recently launched by How2Recycle, prequalification letters simplify How2Recycle’s label request process by confirming brands or retailers have opted for a film structure that already has been assigned a particular How2Recycle label and recyclability designation.

Currently available in a broad range of formats, Amcor’s AmPrima recycle ready solutions offer customers a more sustainable choice for their flexible packaging needs with no compromise on performance. Additionally, AmPrima PE Plus heat resistant options deliver high levels of clarity, stiffness, and heat and abuse resistance; qualities that are unavailable in any other recycle-ready films on the market today.

How2Recycle’s prequalification is an exciting addition to the Association of Plastic Recyclers recent acknowledgement that AmPrima PE Plus heat resistant film meets the requirements for responsible innovation for moulded parts and films over three mils in thickness.

Paper Recycling Rates Remain High as Bills Target Producer Responsibility

In a time of renewed emphasis on reducing waste, paper recycling rates for products and packaging set the industry apart. Many states have introduced legislation, called extended producer responsibility bills, that target how consumer products are disposed after use. Several of these proposals aim to make producers responsible for managing the disposal of various goods in an effort to keep them out of landfills. Examples include mattresses, plastic packaging, chemicals, electronics and more. Paper-based packaging has been included in some proposals, but the good news is paper recycling rates are already high. Even during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, which saw an increase in single-use everything, 65.7 percent of paper consumed in the United States was recycled, according to research by the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA).

Mopria Workflow Survey: Paper is Still Important in Office Workflows (twosidesna.org)

Mopria, a global non-profit formed to provide standards and solutions for printing and scanning, has released the results of their Mopria Workflow Survey. The findings indicate that paper is still important in office workflows. The survey results refute a common assumption that workers prefer digital only workflows and demonstrate balanced preferences between paper and digital media. Mopria surveyed 1,377 individuals between the ages of 25 to 65 who work in an office setting. Among the key findings, the results showed that: •84% take notes on paper •80.5% of workers enjoy the feel of pen and paper •71% believe they are more likely to remember their notes later if they take it on paper Click "read more" below for additional information.
