WestRock Provides Update on Ransomware Incident

WestRock Company (NYSE: WRK) today provided the following update on its ransomware incident which was announced on Jan. 25, 2021.

WestRock’s security teams, supported by leading cyber defense firms, continue to work on remediation of and recovery from this incident. With some exceptions, the Company’s operations have continued to run and deliver for customers. In locations where technology issues have been identified, we are using alternative methods to process and ship orders.

July 2022 Printing-Writing Monthly Report: 2% Increase in Total Inventory Levels (af&pa.org)

According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 1% in July compared to July 2021. U.S. purchases of total printing-writing papers increased 3% in July compared to the same month last year. Total printing-writing paper inventory levels increased 2% when compared to June 2022. • Uncoated free sheet (UFS) paper shipments decreased 1% compared to July 2021 while the inventory level increased 5% compared to June 2022. UFS imports increased 8% while exports decreased 25% in June 2022. • U.S. purchases of coated free sheet (CFS) papers in July increased 2% compared to last July while the inventory level decreased 1% compared to June 2022. CFS imports and exports both increased compared to June 2021, up 32% and 6% respectively. • Coated mechanical (CM) paper shipments decreased 18% compared to July 2021 while the inventory level increased 2% compared to June 2022. CM imports increased 48% while exports decreased 41% in June 2022. • U.S. purchases of uncoated mechanical (UM) papers in July increased 16% compared to last July while the inventory level decreased 13% compared to June 2022. UM imports increased 9% while exports decreased 10% in June 2022.

Crown Van Gelder Publishes 2020 Sustainability Report

2020 was a turbulent year and 2021 still is. Everybody around the world is dealing with the massive impact of the Corona (COVID-19) virus. It also impacted the results of Crown Van Gelder in 2020 but we were able to write black figures. Our priority was to protect the health of our employees and maintain the service to our customers within the given circumstances. After two years of research in 2020 Crown Van Gelder developed Crown Native with the Dutch agricultural cooperative Cosun Beet Company as a strategic partner. The agricultural process residue from Cosun’s production process, beet pulp, forms a valuable resource for the paper and Crown Van Gelder succeeded in creating paper made out of 20% beet pulp, thus achieving environmental gains in several areas. Crown Van Gelder will start selling paper made with sugar beet fibres in 2021.
