2021 GEA Competition: Arandell Wins 15 Awards, Including Best of Category

We are very proud to announce that in the 2021 Graphics Excellence Awards (GEA) Competition, Arandell won 15 awards in the following categories:

Best of Category (The Gutenberg)
Best of Division
Award of Excellence
Certificate of Merit

The GEAs are held every year by the Great Lakes Graphics Association (GLGA), a print industry advocacy organization that represents printers and graphics companies in the three-state area of Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

The competition is in its 23rd year and recognizes companies throughout this three-state area for their superb craftsmanship in the design, creation and production of the top-quality printed material they produce for their customers.

It is the largest regional affiliate print competition and, as such, is highly competitive. Judging is determined by a team of experts in the graphic communications industry and is based on technical expertise, quality of printing and overall graphic appeal.

With so many printers and graphics companies within the three-state area that participate, companies are broken into six different divisions based on the number of employees they have. Arandell competes in Division 5, which is open to the largest printers with 250 employees or more.

After submitting projects to be judged in March, winners were announced by the GLGA in April, with Arandell taking home awards in several categories for the following projects:

Best of Category – Environmentally Sound Materials
YETI Fall-Winter 20
Best of Division – Service Catalogs (4 or more colors)
Y Magazine Winter 2021
Award of Excellence – Multiple Categories
Southern Tide Spring 2021, Outerknown August 2020, prAna Spring 2021, O’Neill Spring 2021, Bloomingdale’s Spring 2021, Allen Brothers Early Summer 2020, Blu Dot Spring 2021, Big Y Magazine Holiday 2020
Certificate of Merit – Multiple Categories
Frances Valentine Spring 2021, Zingerman’s 2021 Catalog, Spartina 449 Spring 2021

The Best of Category award (aka “The Gutenberg”), won by Arandell client YETI in the Environmentally Sound Materials category is most notable from this list due to how harshly the award is judged. Per the GLGA website, Best of Category winners are “[P]resented to the most outstanding entry in each category. The entry must be flawless to win. Given this high standard, every category may not have a winner.”
