Grainger Reports Results for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2021

Company achieves full year targets fueled by strong customer demand and execution of strategic initiatives; Issues 2022 guidance

Fourth Quarter Financial Highlights
*Delivered sales of $3.4 billion, up 14.2%, and up 16.9% on a daily, constant currency basis
*Expanded gross margin by 240 bps to 37.3%
*Generated reported and adjusted operating earnings of $417 million and achieved operating margin of 12.4%, up 305 basis points on a reported basis and up 240 basis points on an adjusted basis

2021 Financial Highlights
*Delivered sales of $13.0 billion, up 10.4%, and up 12.4% on an organic, daily, constant currency basis
*Drove U.S. market outgrowth of 100 basis points, 450 basis points on a two-year average
*Achieved reported and adjusted operating earnings of $1.5 billion, up 51.8% on a reported basis and up 16.6% on an adjusted basis
*Generated reported and adjusted EPS of $19.84, up 54.8% on a reported basis and up 22.6% on an adjusted basis

Grainger (NYSE: GWW) today reported results for the 2021 fourth quarter and full year. Sales of $3.4 billion in the fourth quarter 2021 increased 14.2%, and were up 16.9% on a daily, constant currency basis versus the fourth quarter 2020. For the full year, sales of $13.0 billion increased 10.4%, up 12.4% on an organic, daily, constant currency basis compared to the prior year. Customer demand continued to be very strong, fueling double-digit revenue growth in both segments.

The Postal Regulatory Commission issued its 2020 Annual Compliance Determination assessing the pricing and service performance of the Postal Service in fiscal year 2020 (39 U.S.C. Section 3653). The Postal Regulatory Commission marks 50 years of public service in its mission to ensure transparency and accountability of one of our Nation’s most valued treasures rooted in the Constitution — the U.S. Postal Service. President Richard M. Nixon signed into law the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970 on August 12 of that year. This momentous legislation would transform the Post Office Department into a newly independent Postal Service the following year. Yet the law immediately created the Postal Rate Commission as the 1970 Act ended the role of the U.S. Congress in setting stamp prices. Later, with passage of the Postal Accountability & Enhancement Act of 2006, the agency was renamed the Postal Regulatory Commission as part of significantly expanding its responsibilities. For half a century, the Commission has been the regulatory anchor providing legal and economic oversight of the one agency that touches the lives of all Americans in every community nearly every day, at their homes and offices. USPS Service Performance Remains Steady At 2.5 Days

FY23 second quarter service performance scores covering Jan. 1 through Feb. 3 included: *First-Class Mail: 91.8% of First-Class Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of .8 percentage point performance from the fiscal first quarter. *Marketing Mail: 94.3% of Marketing Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, consistent with performance from the fiscal first quarter. *Periodicals: 86.3% of Periodicals delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of 1.7 percentage points performance from the fiscal first quarter.
