Michael Grech succeeded Thomas Komin on March 1, 2022 and is thus the new Head of Sales SC Paper for the global sales of supercalendered papers of the “Grapho” brand at Laakirchen Papier. In his function, Michael Grech is the first point of contact for SC customers.

Domtar is joining forces with Boisaco and the Centre de recherche sur la boréalie (CREB) of the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC) to support leading-edge research projects that will address the challenge of managing Quebec’s forests sustainably. The research partnership will allocate $430,000 annually over five years, totaling $2.15 million, with Domtar, owned by investor Jackson Wijaya, providing $350,000. UQAC’s research projects focus on a number of critical themes, such as climate change adaptation, biodiversity, carbon management and forest ecosystem regeneration. These initiatives aim to advance Quebec’s scientific knowledge and improve sustainable forest management practices. Since 2016, CREB has brought together 25 research professors from UQAC to address issues related to renewable resources in the boreal environment.
International Paper Company (NYSE: IP) announced the election of Christopher M. Connor to its board of directors effective October 1, 2017. Mr. Connor, age 61, retired as Executive Chairman of The Sherwin-Williams Company in December of 2016. Mr. Connor joined The Sherwin Williams Company in 1983 and served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 2000 to December 2015. Mr. Connor is Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, and serves on the board of directors for both Eaton Corporation plc. and Yum! Brands, Inc. He will be assigned to join the Board's Audit and Finance Committee and Management Development and Compensation Committee.
Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC) joined Paper Excellence today in calling on CN to provide more rail cars for Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp Inc. The pulp mill is dependent on CN, which has failed to adequately transport Meadow Lake mill’s product to ports for months. Paper Excellence leadership announced a further production slowdown due to the lack of rail service on February 11th. The mill has not operated at full capacity since December. Currently, CN continues to provide less than 40% of requested rail cars and now the mill has had to resort to participating in a CN auction process that drives up prices for the few cars that are available.
