UPM Specialty Papers and SN Maschinenbau co-create a recyclable fibre-based pouch ready to be displayed at Interpack 2023

With the packaging industry preparing to meet EU recyclability targets, the demand for innovative and sustainable solutions is growing fast. In a recent co-creation project with SN Maschinenbau GmbH, a leading manufacturer of horizontal pouch-packaging machines, UPM Specialty Papers tested a range of heat-sealable barrier papers on SN Maschinenbau’s packaging machines. The goal was to create a recyclable, renewable, fibre-based pouch ideal for dry, frozen, and greasy foods. The sample will be displayed at Interpack 2023.

In the light of current trends, this includes the capability to produce and process the recyclable and renewable packaging materials that customers are looking for. Tredegar Reports First Quarter 2022 Results

First quarter 2022 net income from continuing operations was $16.5 million (0.49 per diluted share) compared to net income from continuing operations of $9.6 million ($0.29 per diluted share) in the first quarter of 2021. Net income from ongoing operations, which excludes special items, was $16.9 million ($0.50 per diluted share) in the first quarter of 2022 compared with $10.1 million ($0.30 per diluted share) in the first quarter of 2021. First Quarter Financial Results Highlights *Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization ("EBITDA") from ongoing operations for Aluminum Extrusions of $23.9 million was $10.6 million higher than the first quarter of 2021 *EBITDA from ongoing operations for PE Films of $7.0 million was $0.2 million lower than the first quarter of 2021 *EBITDA from ongoing operations for Flexible Packaging Films of $5.0 million was $4.6 million lower than the first quarter of 2021

Mondi helps Dune Packaging to grow its market share

Dune Packaging Ltd has partnered with Mondi to grow its market share by offering more complex, multicolour designs on its open mouth paper bag packaging. Working with Mondi, Dune Packaging is now using Mondi's Advantage Kraft White Print paper to produce high quality packaging for consumer food produce including flour, maize and grain. The current market norm in East Africa is two-colour flexo printing thereby limiting the "shelf appeal" for consumers. By investing in improved machinery as well as upgrading the bleached kraft paper they use has enabled Dune Packaging to supply bags of even higher quality and value to their growing customer base.
