Amcor and Metsä Group partner to develop molded fiber-based food packaging solutions

Amcor (NYSE: AMCR, ASX: AMC), a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions, and forestry industry company Metsä Group, announced a collaboration to develop three-dimensional molded fiber packaging solutions with lidding and liner for a variety of food applications. The collaboration underscores Amcor and Metsä Group’s commitment to sustainability and innovation by creating recycle-ready packaging solutions.

Combining Amcor’s advanced high-barrier film liner and lidding technology with Muoto™, a wood-based molded fiber product developed by Metsä Spring, Metsä Group’s innovation company, the partnership seeks to deliver innovative fiber-based food packaging that protects perishable food products and extends shelf life.

Cascades Announces Step in the Strategic Repositioning of its Ontario Containerboard Packaging Operations

Cascades Inc. announces that it will close its Etobicoke, Ontario Containerboard packaging facility as part of the strategic repositioning of its Containerboard platform in Ontario and the Corporation's continuing global optimization initiatives. Cascades' Etobicoke Containerboard Packaging operations will permanently close no later than August 31, 2021, and the property will be put up for sale. Over the coming weeks and months, Cascades will work to minimize the impact of this announcement on the 125 employees related to this facility. It is important to note that this announcement has no impact on the activities of our Cascades Recovery+ facility and offices that are also located in Etobicoke.

Crown Holdings, Inc. Reports First Quarter 2018 Results

Net sales in the first quarter were $2,197 million compared to $1,901 million in the first quarter of 2017 reflecting increased beverage can volumes, the pass through of higher material costs to customers, and $121 million of favorable currency translation impact. Income from operations was $221 million in the quarter compared to $225 million in the first quarter of 2017. Segment income increased to $245 million in the first quarter compared to $226 million in the prior year first quarter and included $12 million of favorable currency translation impact.
