Alpa Sutaria Joins WestRock as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Sustainability

WestRock Company (NYSE: WRK), a leading provider of differentiated paper and packaging solutions, today announced Alpa Sutaria has joined the Company as senior vice president, Strategy and Sustainability.

In her role, Sutaria will lead WestRock’s enterprise strategy development work as well as partner with business leaders to drive company-wide strategic initiatives. She will also be responsible for strengthening WestRock’s position as a leader in sustainability

Alpa comes to WestRock from the Coca-Cola Company, where she most recently served as vice president and general manager of Sustainability, North America, responsible for embedding sustainability into the company’s overall business strategy. She led efforts to advance the company’s sustainability objectives, including efforts to reduce packaging waste, increase water sustainability and improve the company’s carbon footprint. Throughout her tenure at Coca-Cola, Alpa held a variety of Strategy, Marketing, and Finance leadership roles. Additional experience includes a strategy and operations role at Deloitte where she led a broad range of complex projects from concept through execution.

Solenis to Expand Production for Next-Generation Color Developer for Thermal Paper

Solenis is expanding production at its Ankleshwar facility in India to manufacture its next-generation Pergafast™ 425 color developer for the thermal paper market. Part of Solenis’ imaging product line, the patented Pergafast™ 425 provides additional performance capabilities as compared to the company’s well-known Pergafast™ 201 color developer. Color developers are used in the formulation of the coating layer in thermal papers. They play a key role in developing the image on the paper when exposed to heat in the thermal printing process. Thermal paper is used in various applications, such as supermarket receipts and packaging labels. “With this new expansion, we intend to support our customers in their journey towards more sustainable products,” said Christophe Zebst, director, Product Management.

Resolute’s environmental management performance: 2020 highlights

Resolute is committed to managing the resources in our care with the highest respect, differentiating the company as an environmental supplier of choice. Our ongoing commitments and annually revised targets help us improve our environmental management performance and reduce our overall footprint. Here are some highlights from our 2020 sustainability reporting, prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards. In 2020, we recorded 13 environmental incidents, surpassing our 2019 performance of 18 incidents. Continuous improvement moves us toward our long-term aspirational goal of zero incidents. We also trained over 200 directors, managers and superintendents to reinforce the company’s commitment to environmental incident management and regulatory compliance. Training took place via four virtual sessions led by our Legal team. We take a preventative and proactive approach to environmental management – driven at the local level by our operations’ managers and overseen by Resolute’s senior management. Our employees work collaboratively across all levels to develop and implement environmental risk audits designed to identify potential non-compliances or environmental incidents before these occur.
