American Meteorological Society Journals Launch on KGL PubFactory

The American Meteorological Society (AMS), the leading scientific and professional organization promoting the advancement of atmospheric, oceanic and hydrologic sciences, has launched its new online journals platform on KnowledgeWorks Global Ltd. (KGL)’s PubFactory platform.

The new AMS website (journals.ametsoc.org) hosts all content from the Society’s 11 prestigious peer-reviewed scientific journals, including the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (BAMS). Following an extensive review of site requirements with AMS leadership, KGL PubFactory managed the comprehensive web development project and site migration process for the full archive of 117,000 journal articles dating to 1920.

In addition to the online hosting platform, AMS is now working closely with KGL to streamline and optimize its journal production workflow and processes, adding services such as web-based proofing to help accelerate publication, contain costs, and improve the author experience.

Brian Papa, Associate Executive Director at AMS, stated: “Working with PubFactory has honestly exceeded our expectations and we are very excited about this latest chapter in our 15-year relationship with Sheridan and now KGL. We were anxious about going live right before the end of the year, but the team did a great job meeting milestones and keeping to schedule. We are particularly looking forward to maximizing our newly integrated journal workflow which offers a dynamic, real-time online approach to proofing that will be of huge benefit to our authors.”

José Fossi, VP of Client Services for KGL PubFactory, added: “The American Meteorological Society is one of the most important Society publishers on our roster, with a high volume of journal content being regularly produced and an extremely active researcher and author base at its heart. The Society and its global community deserve a cutting-edge hosting platform which caters to all their needs, and on the back end, journal production which facilitates quick and pain-free publication. We are confident that this expanded relationship delivers on both these fronts and we look forward to serving the AMS community long into the future.”

KGL’s end-to-end proposition for scholarly publishers includes project management, AI-powered language analysis and copyediting, XML composition and proofing, digital and print production, and online hosting. The PubFactory platform hosts over 2,300 journals and 400,000 books, numerous databases, and reference works.
