Stora Enso Intelligent Packaging is expanding the selection of the sustainable ECO RFID –product family with a tag collection that is specifically designed for food & beverage items. Part of the new ECO RFID Food & Beverage Collection by Stora Enso is the world’s first paper tag for microwave-safe use, ECO Meal. RFID technology is used in the food industry to automate processes, provide real-time ‘track and trace’ –functionalities, and support next-generation unmanned retail. The new ECO Meal RFID tag by Stora Enso is specially designed for item-level tagging and tracking of ready-made meals. It is the first paper-based RFID tag on the market for this specific use case. Unlike traditional RFID tags, ECO Meal labels do not need to be removed from the food package prior to microwave heating, and the tags can be recycled in paper recycling.*
The Dutch Beers and Collectors Association (BAV) has awarded the Dutch beer brewer HOOP Bier as the winner of the best and the most beautiful beer label 2017 at the Dutch BAV beer label competition. The competition is open for all beer brewers from the Netherlands.
During the BAV Autumn Fair in September 16, an expert jury chose the Old Ale’s label “Oudt Heyn and syn wyf” by HOOP Bier as the winner. The main contributors for the win were the design, appearance and the label mentioning recommendations for preferred food to partner the beer. The concept and design of HOOP Bier was made by PROUDdesign, an agency specialized in packaging and brand-design.
“When choosing the label material, HOOP Bier wanted to make sure that the label had a different look and feel compared to standard craft labels. We chose UPM Raflatac’s self-adhesive PE label as it gave us great design options, flexibility and moisture resistance, aspects that one needs in our demanding environment”, says Steven de Cleen, founder of PROUDdesign and co-founder of HOOP Bier.
