Metsä Board has been identified as a global leader for its actions and strategies in response to climate change and has been awarded a position on the Climate A List by CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project), the international not-for-profit organisation that drives sustainable economies. Metsä Board is among 9% of corporations participating in CDP’s climate change programme to be awarded a position on the list, in recognition of its actions to reduce emissions and mitigate climate change in the past reporting year.

UPM has been listed as the forest and paper industry leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index (DJSI) for 2016-2017. The MM Group has been recognized by the global, non-profit environmental organization CDP for its leadership in transparency and performance in relation to climate change and received a place on the annual "A List". Based on data from the CDP 2022 Climate Change Questionnaire (“Climate”), MM is one of the few companies 1) to have achieved an “A” rating. In total, more than 15,000 companies were evaluated. In addition to the climate rating, MM has also disclosed data on forest management (“Forests”) at CDP and, for the first time in 2022, on water management (“Water Security”). In both categories, the MM Group also achieved an excellent rating with a "B" rating. This shows that ecological sustainability is implemented holistically at MM, taking into account goals and measures to protect the climate, forests and water bodies.
