Crews estimate they will continue to battle last night’s large commercial fire at an Industrial Way paper mill throughout Wednesday in Longview.
Wood chip piles are fueling the blaze at Nippon Dynawave Packaging at 1701 Industrial Way near the entrance on the Longview side of the Lewis and Clark Bridge and Weyerhaeuser’s gate 4 near Oregon and Industrial ways.
A large plume of smoke could still be seen Wednesday morning.

SEE announced it has completed the sale of its Reflectix® business to an affiliate of Balcan Innovations. Under SEE’s ownership, Reflectix grew to become the largest brand of reflective insulation solutions serving construction, HVAC, and insulation applications for residential do-it-yourself and pro-channels. Reflectix’s products are widely distributed in North America through more than 3,500 dealer, distributor and retail locations. The transaction includes Reflectix manufacturing facilities in Markleville, Indiana, where they employ approximately 80 employees.
Total packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in January increased 4% compared to January 2024. The operating rate for bleached packaging papers was 81.4%, up 3.3 points from January 2024. Shipments of the biggest subgrade in unbleached packaging papers – bag & sack – were 104,800 short tons for the month of January, down 1.6% from the same month last year.
