Costco Wholesale Corporation Reports May Sales Results

The United States Postal Service reported new delivery performance metrics for the thirteenth week of the first quarter for fiscal year 2024. The average time for the Postal Service to deliver a mailpiece or package across the nation was 2.7 days. FY24 first quarter service performance scores covering October 1 through December 29, included: *First-Class Mail: 85.4 percent of First-Class Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, a decrease of 5.7 percentage points from the fiscal fourth quarter. *Marketing Mail: 93.8 percent of Marketing Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, a decrease of 1.5 percentage points from the fiscal fourth quarter. *Periodicals: 80.8 percent of Periodicals delivered on time against the USPS service standard, a decrease of 5.2 percentage points from the fiscal fourth quarter.

U.S. advertising revenues in August took an expected hit -- down 7% for the month. That's due, in large part, to unfavorable comparisons to high TV media spending from the Summer Olympics in August 2016. Standard Media Index says overall TV advertising spending for the month was down 25%, with broadcast TV networks sinking 54% and local TV station national spot advertising down 35%. This was the clear conclusion of the multi-country survey recently undertaken by Two Sides. At the annual meeting of Two Sides Country Managers in London on October 23, 2017, representatives from Europe, North America, South America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand discussed the results of the survey and will build upon the findings to ensure that print on paper remains the preferred and sustainable way to communicate. Two Sides also plans to strengthen its global Anti-Greenwash campaign which is targeted at major banks, utilities, telecoms and others. Over 600 organizations have been researched. Of these 77% have been found to be using greenwash in their marketing, usually in breach of local regulations, and, after being challenged by Two Sides, 60% have voluntarily amended their messaging – a great success story!
