Flint Group Packaging Inks, a leading provider of print consumables to the global packaging industry, has announced the launch of a number of new water-based ink innovations for the Russian Paper & Board packaging market.

Andrei Popov, Commercial Director Packaging Inks Russia & CIS at Flint Group Packaging Inks, said: “We are committed to the Russian packaging market and investing heavily in new market-leading technologies to ensure our customers are achieving best in class performance.

“Being a highly competitive industry, our new AquaCode range of water-based inks and coatings are designed to give our customers the opportunity to save on the total cost of print. With high speed performance, delivering less downtime and waste, as well as high graphic impact, the range sees our customers at the forefront of next generation ink technology development.”

Having already launched its sustainability vision ‘to support packaging markets with responsibly built products and sustainable solutions designed for circular economies’, the new range also incorporates a host of new benefits in terms of environmental performance.

The AquaCode Range consists of a number of new ink technologies designed for specific packaging requirements and applications:

OctaCode – The OctaCode ink series offers high resistance to oils, fats and chemicals, while protecting against scuffing and scratching. From foodservice, to pre-print applications and aseptic packaging, OctaCode delivers several benefits to the environment, the packaging application and the printing process. Importantly, OctaCode also supports water-based printing on plastic films.

HexaCode – This ink series offers class-leading product quality and efficiency. With HexaCode, printers can reduce the number of press stops, improve set up times and boost press stability. Increased productivity in plate and anilox cleaning, alongside faster conversion speeds, further enables printers to drive down costs. With improved coverage and mileage, the range is suitable for pre- and post-print corrugated board applications, as well as shopping bags, paper bags and sacks and other key applications.

TerraCode – Designed to reduce CO2 emissions, TerraCode is a sustainable water-based ink and coating range for paper and board packaging. This range supports the use of expanded colour gamut printing and with its high strength enabling superb trapping and tonal quality, TerraCode also reduces ghosting, improves press stability and demonstrates outstanding print quality and coverage. Included within the TerraCode series are Direct Food Contact Coatings for Food Service packaging applications.

DecaCode – DecaCode, water-based coatings have been designed for next generation presentation and protection and include a range of barrier coatings that can support plastic replacement projects. DecaCode delivers outstanding graphic impact, with high gloss and matt options for a wide variety of applications, including pre- and post-print corrugated, aseptic and fresh, bags and sacks and food service packaging.

Popov concluded: “We’ve worked with a number of our customers to develop these next generation solutions delivering on their key needs of cost down, increased efficiency, outstanding print quality and sustainability.
