Greif invests $10 million in Concord, North Carolina plant expansion

Greif, Inc. (NYSE: GEF, GEF.B), a global leader in industrial packaging products and services, announced today that it is expanding its CorrChoice – Concord sheet feeder operations. The company plans to acquire and install by the spring of 2022 an Engico Jumbo Flexo Folder Gluer from Haire Group that converts corrugated scored sheets into boxes. The three color, 188” machine offers flexibility with 66” and 99” die cut cylinders and will be the third jumbo press in Greif’s CorrChoice sheet feeder network. This investment enables Greif to continue its growth with new and existing strategic customers throughout the southeastern United States while enhancing customer service through diminished lead times. The expansion is also expected to create up to 30 new jobs in Cabarrus County where the CorrChoice – Concord sheet feeder is located

American Forest & Paper Association Releases December 2017 U.S. Packaging Papers & Specialty Packaging Monthly Report

Total Packaging Papers shipments were 240,000 tons, 2.5 percent higher than December 2016. Bag & Sack shipments were up 1.3 percent year-to-date, while Food Wrapping shipments were down 6.0 percent over the same period. The operating rate for December 2017 was the second highest of the year at 92.0 percent, while the year-to-date rate was 88.6 percent. Inventories were 165,800 tons, down 4.2 percent since November 2017.

Mondi offers customers a range of life cycle tools to assess environmental impact of products

Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, has enhanced its Product Impact Assessment (PIA) tool with new environmental key performance indicators (KPIs). The Group’s broad range of life cycle assessment tools are designed to provide science-based, tailored information to customers about the environmental impacts of paper- and plastic-based products for better decision-making. The Group’s PIA tool initially focused on carbon and water scarcity but now has additional KPIs to address further key aspects in the sustainable design of products, such as: ‘Designed for recycling’; ‘Recycling rates in region’; ‘Share of plastics (PO) content’; ‘Share of renewable content’; ‘Share of recycled content’; and ‘Certified for composting’.
