We’re celebrating one of our oldest and most important partners—Earth. Even though astronomers recently found more than 1,000 new planets, we remain committed to ours.
Twenty-five years ago HP and its customers joined together in HP Planet Partners to reduce waste by recycling HP printing supplies and any brand’s hardware.
Since its creation, HP Planet Partners has spread to 73 countries and territories. With the help of our customers, we’ve recovered more than 3.3 billion pounds of products and recycled more than 682 million cartridges.
HP’s closed-loop recycling process diverts millions of pounds of plastic from landfills to make Original HP cartridges—satisfying customer demands and reducing environmental impact.
If your Original HP cartridges could talk, they could probably tell stories about the many times they have been manufactured, used, recycled, disassembled, combined with recycled water bottles or hangers, and manufactured again. As part of what we call the circular economy, HP has used more than 3.3 billion plastic bottles, 50 million recycled hangers, and 177 million pounds of recycled cartridge plastic to manufacture new Original HP ink or toner cartridges.
In fact, no Original HP cartridges returned through HP Planet Partners are ever sent to a landfill. And up to 80% of Original HP ink cartridges (and up to 38% of Original HP LaserJet toner cartridges) are now manufactured with recycled plastic from the closed-loop recycling process.
HP uses transformative innovation to advance the circular economy—a more sustainable approach to product design, recovery processes, and business models. That innovation ultimately results in supplies that offer sustainability without sacrificing quality or reliability—and happy customers.
