Intertape Polymer Group Publishes First Annual Sustainability Report

Intertape Polymer Group Inc. (TSX:ITP) (“IPG” or the “Company”) today published its first annual IPG Sustainability Report, titled “Deepening our commitment to sustainability in packaging and protective solutions”. The report provides an overview of IPG’s 2018 sustainability performance and highlights IPG’s sustainability objectives for the years ahead.

2018 Sustainability Highlights:
• 2019 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence designation
• 15 million pounds of film trim reclaimed from production processes in 2018
• 1.7 total case incident rate and 0.4 lost workday case incident rate safety record in 2018 which represents a total case incident rate reduction of over 50% since 2010
• 56% reduction in volatile organic compounds (“VOCs”) since 2015, with 600 tons per year of VOCs eliminated through solvent-free production
• Attained Extraordinary Environmental Enterprise (level E4) recognition from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Environmental Excellence Program for the Danville plant in 2018

During the first six months of 2023, 21 additional companies representing approximately 90 million customers have removed greenwashing messages such as “Go green, Go paperless” and “Go paperless to help protect the environment” from their marketing communications. “In addition to misleading consumers, these types of unsubstantiated environmental claims pose a serious threat to the economic security of the more than 7 million people whose livelihoods depend on a healthy North American paper, printing and mailing sector,” says Two Sides North America President Kathi Rowzie. “Our recent research found that 65% of consumers who’ve seen anti-paper greenwashing are influenced to go paperless.” That same research found that the Two Sides Anti-greenwashing Campaign has preserved more than $300 million in annual revenue for the paper, printing and mailing sector over the last decade.

Experts Anticipate Significant Continued Reductions in Wind Energy Costs

Technology advancements are expected to continue to drive down the cost of wind energy, according to a survey of the world's foremost wind power experts led by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab). Experts anticipate cost reductions of 24%-30% by 2030 and 35%-41% by 2050, under a median or 'best guess' scenario, driven by bigger and more efficient turbines, lower capital and operating costs, and other advancements.
