Kotkamills to become first-ever sustainability partner of Norwich

Norwich City and Kotkamills are delighted to announce their sustainability partnership, the first ever in the club’s history.

The multi-year partnership will see Kotkamills work with the club to reduce the amount of plastic waste that is disposed of as a by-product of food and drink at Carrow Road football stadium and the Lotus Training Centre. The partnership is a part of the measures aimed at achieving the club’s wider sustainability goals.

Once fans are allowed back to the stadium, they will see the revolutionarily easily recyclable paperboard to have replaced plastic cups and food boxes. As a result, the changes already implemented will result in over 100,000 items switch to plastic-free over the next three years with a view of continuously implementing more sustainable measure over this time.

Chief Operating Officer at the club, Ben Kensell, said: “At a time where it would be easier to continue with our old ways, I’m pleased to see the club explore and implement ways where we can operate more responsibly and sustainably. I look forward to see Kotkamills and the club continue collaborate and progress on our journey to become more sustainable across all areas of the club.”

Ben Tunnell, City’s Head of Commercial Development, and Sam Jeffery, City’s Head of Commercial Operations, added: “In November 2019, the club set out our ambitious internationalisation project – “We Believe in the Huuhkajat” – in support of the Finnish national team and star striker Teemu Pukki; we sought to become the English club of choice for the people of Finland, and thanks to Teemu’s success our popularity has grown organically.

The country has grown into the club’s key European territory commercially – across partnerships, fan engagement and retail. Our flagship partnership with Kotkamills, announced today, is the club’s first ever sustainability partnership, and we’re delighted to be working with such a reputable Finnish business to start developing something truly special.”
