Paper and Packaging in the spotlight for the 1st PEFC Sustainability Fair

Don’t be afraid to use paper and packaging, just make sure they are PEFC-certified! This is set to be the key message of the 1st PEFC Sustainability Fair in Chile later this month.

Join the Chilean Sustainable Forest Certification System, CERTFOR, and PEFC International, in Santiago, Chile on 26 October, as we seek to raise awareness of sustainable forest products and promote the use of paper and packaging certified by PEFC, the world’s leading forest certification system.

Responsible procurement is a concept that has not only grown in importance for consumers. Today, it is also part of public policy in Chile for the purchase of paper and furniture, and a cornerstone in programs of corporate social responsibility (CSR) for many organizations around the world.

Have a look around the Fair-ground
The 1st PEFC Sustainability Fair will focus on giving visibility to certified paper distributors and printing and packaging companies that are already providing sustainable products for Chile’s domestic market.

Participants will get the chance to explore the exhibition ground and meet with PEFC-certified companies from all around the country: seeing their products and learning why they chose PEFC certification.

We would encourage procurement, marketing, and CSR executives from different organizations, public and private alike, to join us and discover how purchasing locally produced, PEFC-certified paper and packaging products can be a real benefit to their businesses.

What you can expect
We’ll begin the day with the PEFC label, highlighting its environmental, social and commercial relevance and its global reach in Chile. A PEFC-certified company will then take the stage to explain how it benefits from PEFC certification, before a retail company explains why the PEFC label is an important component of its corporate sustainability program.

In the afternoon, PEFC Spain will offer a workshop for commercial executives of certified companies and organizations interested in improving their approach for offering PEFC-certified products on the market.

South America Promotions Initiative
The Sustainability Fair is part of the South America Promotions Initiative, a project lead by PEFC International to grow demand for PEFC certification and certified products in South America.

Through the initiative, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay are delivering market initiatives to stimulate growth of certification while strengthening and raising awareness of the PEFC brand.
