Paper Excellence Announces Corporate Knights Best 50 Win

Paper Excellence today announced it has been voted one of Canada’s 2021 Best 50 corporate citizens by Corporate Knights. This is the fourteenth time that the company has achieved the Best 50 award with Corporate Knights. (Previous awards were presented to Catalyst Paper which is now wholly owned by Paper Excellence.) Paper Excellence operates six pulp and paper facilities in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

The Best 50 award is judged using key performance indicators that relate to the organization’s raw resource use, emissions profile, social performance, safety performance, and percentage of revenue from clean sources.

In a world awash with plastic waste, we see a bright future for our sustainably sourced and fully recyclable pulp and paper products,” said Graham Kissack, Vice President, Environment, Health & Safety and Corporate Communications.

In 2020, Paper Excellence achieved a 60% reduction of its greenhouse gas emissions relative to 1990 while using an energy basket made up of over 84% renewables. 33% of the organization’s solid waste is beneficially reused or recycled while over 53% of its electricity comes from self-generated green power. Paper Excellence’s products are certified to numerous independent sustainable forestry standards including the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI).

Financial review H1 2017: The Group's comparable net sales growth was 2% during the first half of the year with a positive contribution from all business segments. Comparable growth in emerging markets was 1%. Growth was strongest in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia, while net sales declined significantly in India. The Group's net sales grew to EUR 1,511 million (EUR 1,414 million). Foreign currency translation impact on the Group's net sales was EUR 36 million (EUR -39 million) compared to 2016 exchange rates. The majority of the positive impact came from the US dollar, Russian ruble and Indian rupee, while the impact from pound sterling and certain emerging market currencies was negative. Ahlstrom-Munksjö expands FiltEV® portfolio for electric vehicles, delivering new high performance filtration solutions for fuel cell air intake

Ahlstrom-Munksjö continues to focus on the growth segment of electrification, expanding its latest product offering, totally dedicated to filtration media solutions for electric vehicles. The new solutions for fuel cell electric vehicles complement the products launched earlier in the year for all electric vehicles, including filtration solutions for cabin air, transmission and cooling systems.
