PEFC releases new list of PEFC product categories

The PEFC product categories are a key element in the implementation of the PEFC chain of custody by certified organisations and certification bodies. The revised list of PEFC product categories, as approved by the Chain of Custody Working Group on 15 October 2021, is now available.

The PEFC product categories define the PEFC product groups to which the chain of custody is applied and the scope of the chain of custody certificate. When checking the validity of a PEFC claim on a PEFC certified product, companies use the PEFC database to ensure the product is under the scope of their certified supplier.

Additionally, the categories serve as a tool for the promotion of certified products, with the list of product categories covered by a certified organisation available on the PEFC International website.

AmPrima™ PE Plus prequalifies for How2Recycle® store drop-off label

Amcor, a leading global developer and producer of responsible packaging, has received prequalification to carry How2Recycle’s® store drop-off label on consumer packaging for a variety of barrier and non-barrier specs in the AmPrima™ PE Plus heat resistant portfolio, subject to conditions like product application and final package design. “This is exciting for Amcor and our customers. It’s an outstanding step forward as we work toward our commitment to make all of our packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025,” said Amcor Flexibles North America Sales and Marketing Vice President Laurel Spencer. “Prequalification saves time, cost, and reduces risk for brand-owners and retailers by eliminating the need to engage external labs for recycle-ready testing in the development phase. Ahlstrom-Munksjö, Metsä Fibre and 3M continue collaboration in responsible wood sourcing

Ahlstrom-Munksjö, Metsä Fibre and 3M, with the help of Earthworm Foundation, continue their close collaboration in responsible wood sourcing. This year the partnership concentrates on the Kainuu region, Finland, where the different parties will conduct research on current forestry practices and future practices linked to Kemi Mill expansion in the area. Based on the results, the three companies will develop their operations and continue collaboration among each other and other stakeholders to pursue sustainability in wood sourcing. Metsä Fibre, the world’s largest producer of bleached softwood pulp and a globally significant manufacturer of sawn timber; Ahlstrom-Munksjö, a significant wood pulp consumer; and 3M, a global producer of paper-based products, seek to advance environmental performance and sustainability throughout their operations and supply chains.
