Postal Regulatory Commission Issues Advisory Opinion on USPS Delivering for America

The Postal Regulatory Commission (Commission) issued an in-depth analysis of the Postal Service’s Delivering for America (DFA) initiatives proposing nationwide changes to mail service. While the Commission acknowledges the challenges the Postal Service faces are significant, and change is essential, the Commission finds the Postal Service is irreversibly changing its network without laying a foundation for success.

First, the Postal Service’s plan depends on defective modeling and does not appear to be ready for implementation.
Second, the Postal Service relies on overly optimistic and unsubstantiated financial projections for cost savings that are not likely to improve the financial health of the Postal Service.
Third, the Postal Service’s proposal has significant negative impacts on rural communities throughout the United States.

Meredith Corporation To Sell Local Media Group For $2.7 Billion, Focus Exclusively On Leading Portfolio Of National Brands

Meredith Corporationannounced that it has agreed to sell its Local Media Group to Gray Television, Inc. for $2.7 billion in cash and will focus exclusively on its National Media Group ("NMG") portfolio post-close. Under the terms of the transaction, Meredith's National Media Group will be spun out to shareholders as a standalone publicly traded company retaining the Meredith Corporation name, with shareholders receiving cash consideration per share of approximately $14.50 and 1-for-1 equity share in post-close Meredith. The transaction was unanimously approved by Meredith's and Gray's Board of Directors. Following the LMG sale, Meredith will focus on accelerating the growth of its iconic brands including PEOPLE, Better Homes & Gardens, and Allrecipes, which deliver trusted, actionable content for every aspect of consumers' lives. The more focused company will continue producing and delivering content for 95% of U.S. women, many of whom are primary decision makers for the household.

USPS Reports Consistent Performance Across All Mail Categories

FY23 third quarter service performance scores covering April 1 through April 14, included: *First-Class Mail: 91.5% of First-Class Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, consistent with performance from the fiscal second quarter. *Marketing Mail: 95.8% of Marketing Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of 1.2 percentage points from the fiscal second quarter. *Periodicals: 87.8% of Periodicals delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of 1.3 percentage points from the fiscal second quarter.
