Postmaster General Louis DeJoy Shares Approach To Leadership and Vision for Transformation of USPS

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy recently delivered remarks at the 2023 Concordia United States Summit in Cary, NC. DeJoy highlighted how he has leveraged his private sector background to reshape and strengthen the U.S. Postal Service, the nation’s most trusted agency. Following his remarks, DeJoy was interviewed by Michelle Giuda, CEO of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue University.

“It’s about innovation. It’s about a commitment to work and precision. It’s about competing in a marketplace … and getting a competitive advantage on everything around you,” DeJoy said in response to a question from Giuda about his approach to leading USPS.

DeJoy’s remarks focused on how the Postal Service is continuing to transform and improve operating practices across the organization.

Average Time for Delivery Remains at Just 2.4 Days

Through the first six weeks of the third quarter, the average time for delivery of mail and packages across the postal network remained just 2.4 days. Third quarter service performance scores covering April 1 through May 13 included: *First-Class Mail: 93.4 percent of First-Class Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of 5.6 percentage points from the fiscal second quarter. *Marketing Mail: 95.0 percent of Marketing Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of 2.8 percentage points from the fiscal second quarter. *Periodicals: 86.7 percent of Periodicals delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an improvement of 5.2 percentage points from the fiscal second quarter.

Hachette UK Acquires Jessica Kingsley Publishers

Jessica Kingsley Publishers has been acquired by Hachette UK, effective immediately. It has been folded into John Murray Press as an imprint, and will be overseen by managing director Nick Davies. The agreement keeps Kingsley intact as a company, with Hachette UK made 100% shareholder. "Jessica Kingsley has built a business of great significance, renowned for anticipating trends and identifying gaps in the market, publishing books that are essential for professionals in their specialist areas, and that serve the communities with which they work," Jamie Hodder Williams, CEO of Hodder, Headline, Quercus and John Murray Press, said in a statement.
