The CANPACK Group is proud to announce that it was awarded a ‘White CSR Leaf’ by POLITYKA weekly, an award that had been assessed in cooperation with Deloitte and the Responsible Business Forum. In addition to receiving this accolade, CANPACK was also recognised as a ‘best practice’ organisation when it came to reducing its carbon footprint. The prestigious ‘White CSR Leaf’ accolade from POLITYKA weekly is awarded to companies that have been the most socially engaged over the last ten years. This year’s jubilee edition focused on company projects that reduced a business’s impact on the natural environment and climate, as well as initiatives to counter the economic and social effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Every year, the ranking is also accompanied by a review of initiatives supporting the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Out of over 100 initiatives supporting sustainable development, the most up-to-date practices that brought measurable and significant effects were recognised.
Pregis, a leading global manufacturer of protective packaging, joined 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate one percent of sales of its Inspyre brand products to support nonprofit organizations. 1% for the Planet is a global organization with a mission to inspire businesses and individuals to support approved environmental nonprofits to build a better world and future for all.
Pregis introduced its Inspyre brand in 2018 with the mission of providing customers with the option to choose packaging that does good for the world. Since the introduction, Pregis has donated a portion of the proceeds of these products, including Inspyre hybrid cushioning with water blue color tint and tissue paper packaging, to Uzima Clean Water Mission. The company plans to expand the Inspyre product offering to increase its global impact. Uzima provides water filters, hygiene kits and education to communities across the world to overcome water insecurities improving overall wellness in those communities through access to clean water.
“We’re committed to making a real impact not only through efforts to run our business in the most sustainable manner possible and to offer sustainable packaging solutions, but also by making significant contributions that help people and our planet,” said Daché Davidson, chief marketing officer, Pregis. “Our partnership with 1% for the Planet and support of Uzima are testaments to our commitment as environmental stewards to give back to nonprofits that are driving real change.”
Through its donations to Uzima, Pregis has helped bring clean water to more than 170,000 people in communities around the world since launching the Inspyre brand. 1% for the Planet helps create high-impact partnerships between businesses and nonprofits to accelerate smart environmental giving and amplify the impact of donations.
“Currently, only three percent of total philanthropy goes to the environment, and only five percent of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members is doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on-the-ground outcomes. We’re excited to welcome Pregis to our global movement,” said Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet.
By contributing one percent of annual sales, thousands of 1% for the Planet members have raised over $300 million to support approved environmental nonprofits around the globe. Nonprofits are approved based on referrals, track record, and environmental focus, and thousands of nonprofits worldwide are currently approved.
