Reporting Matters 23: Mondi again recognised as a leader in sustainability reporting

Mondi has been again recognised as one of the leading sustainability reporters in the annual ‘Reporting Matters’ evaluation by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Mondi’s 2022 Sustainable Development (‘SD) report is ranked in the ‘Top performer’ category outlining companies with high reporting standards and precision in content and data quality.

Mondi’s SD report 2022 is commended for the strong integration of sustainability in the Group’s strategy and its consistent creative concept. The report received top scores in the categories of ‘Completeness’, ‘Operating context’, ‘Stakeholder engagement’, ‘Sustainability governance’, ‘Strategy’ and ‘Partnerships & collaboration’. Mondi’s SD reports have been included to the ‘Top performer’ category since 2018.

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative continues to engage the international forest community through PEFC endorsement

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Inc. announced today that the SFI 2015-2019 Forest Management Standard has again met the rigorous third-party assessment of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). This is SFI’s fourth PEFC assessment. The SFI Program was first endorsed in 2005. PEFC is an umbrella organization that endorses national forest certification systems developed collaboratively by diverse stakeholders, tailored to local priorities and conditions. “SFI makes important contributions that address the unique needs of North America’s forests and communities, and is a valuable national member working with PEFC to elevate the role of responsible forestry,” said Ben Gunneberg, Secretary General of PEFC. “Only forest certification standards that meet our rigorous meta-standard and that are developed in an open, transparent manner through a multi-stakeholder process are endorsed by PEFC.” PEFC’s sustainable forest management criteria are founded on internationally recognized criteria and indicators developed by government agencies around the world. The SFI Program was re-endorsed by PEFC after a 60-day public comment period, a detailed examination and third-party assessment against nearly 200 criteria by a PEFC-approved assessor and a review by the PEFC Panel of Experts.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s sustainability work awarded with fourth consecutive EcoVadis Gold rating

Ahlstrom-Munksjö has been awarded with EcoVadis Gold rating for the company’s sustainability management and performance for the fourth consecutive year. Compared with the results from the previous year, progress was especially made in sustainable procurement. EcoVadis is a globally recognized business sustainability rating provider. The Corporate Social Responsibility assessment criteria include four themes; environment, labor practices, sustainable procurement and fair business practices. The EcoVadis method is based on internationally adopted principles for sustainability reporting, such as the Global Reporting Initiative, United Nations Global Compact and ISO 26000, and is audited by independent sustainability experts.
