SBTi Approves Atlantic’s Plan to Reach Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2046

Atlantic is excited to announce that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved our science-based targets for reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2046!

Atlantic Packaging is the first North American packaging company with an approved net-zero target.

Atlantic’s Approved Science-Based Targets
Overall Net-Zero Target:
*Atlantic commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2046, which is Atlantic’s 100th birthday.

Near-Term Targets:
*Atlantic commits to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 70% by 2030, from a 2021 base year.
*Atlantic also commits that 55% of its suppliers by spend, covering purchased goods and services, will have science-based targets by 2027.
*Atlantic further commits to reduce 25% of its Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services by 2030, from a 2021 base year.

Long-Term Targets:
*Atlantic commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2046.
*Atlantic commits to reduce Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions 90% by 2046, from a 2021 base year.

Amcor reports fiscal 2023 results

Fiscal 2023 Full Year Highlights • Net sales of $14,694 million, in line with the prior year on a comparable constant currency basis; • GAAP Net Income of $1,048 million; GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) of 70.5 cps; • Strong total cash returns to shareholders of $1.2 billion: annual dividend increased to 49.0 cents pershare; $431 million of shares repurchased (approximately 3% of outstanding shares); and • Fiscal 2024 outlook: Adjusted EPS of 67-71 cents per share. Adjusted Free Cash Flow of $850-950million.

Stora Enso starts the production of new-generation formed fiber products free from plastic and PFAS

Stora Enso has started the production of formed fiber food service products at Hylte Mill in Sweden. The production ramp-up follows the investment announced in 2019 and enables the manufacture of products that are renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. The PureFiberTM by Stora Enso eco-product range is produced without plastic and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), enabling a safe and sustainable alternative for fresh food packaging. The Group is also investing in more formed fiber capacity in Sweden and China. Through its partnership with HS Manufacturing Group and its patented technology, PROTĒAN®, Stora Enso offers a plastic-free barrier technology for food contact packaging applications. The joint patent-pending technology offers a recyclable and biodegradable solution that gives fiber-based packaging water-, grease- and oil-resistant barrier properties, without plastic or PFAS. The solution can be applied for a range of products, such as single-use food service items. A Life Cycle Analysis study shows that the PureFiberTM product line has a CO2 footprint that is approximately 75% lower compared to competing packaging materials.
