Stein Mart Announces Five New Stores Opening This Fall

Stein Mart (NASDAQ:SMRT) (the “Company”) today announced the  locations of its five new stores opening this fall to complete its 2017 store plan to open a total of 10 new stores this year.

“We look forward to introducing our customers to these new locations where they will always find great values on the best designer and name brand merchandise, in an attractive, easy-to-shop setting,” said Hunt Hawkins, CEO of Stein Mart. “With new merchandising initiatives and a new marketing campaign being launched this fall, we invite all of our customers — new and loyal — to come see and hear what’s new at Stein Mart this fall.”

The locations and currently scheduled opening dates for Stein Mart’s fall new store group are:
•Algonquin, IL: River Pointe of Algonquin — October 12
•Mechanicsburg, PA: former Kmart center on Carlisle Pike — October 19
•Sanford, FL: Marketplace at Seminole Towne Center — October 12
•Wichita, KS: Greenwich Place — September 14
•Willowbrook, IL: former Kmart center on Plainfield Road — October 12

Each of these stores will bring an estimated 40 jobs to the communities in which they are opening.

Adobe Digital Price Index: Online Prices Fall For Eleventh Consecutive Month, Dropping 1.6% In July

Adobe announced the latest online inflation data from the Adobe Digital Price Index (DPI), powered by Adobe Analytics. Online prices in July 2023 fell 1.6% year-over-year (YoY), marking the eleventh consecutive month of YoY price decreases, with the majority of categories (11 of 18) tracked by Adobe seeing falling prices on an annual basis. On a month-over-month (MoM) basis, online prices fell 0.9% in July. July’s YoY price decline was driven by notable drops in categories such as appliances, which fell 8% YoY (down 0.3% MoM), as well as furniture/bedding which fell 3.5% YoY (down 0.7% MoM). Steeper YoY declines were observed in electronics, which fell 11.7% YoY (down 0.7% MoM) as well as computers, which fell 15.4% YoY (down 1.5% MoM).

AAP August 2022 StatShot Report: Publishing Industry Down 5.0% Year-To-Date

The Association of American Publishers (AAP) released its StatShot report for August 2022 reflecting reported revenue for Trade (Consumer Books), Higher Education Course Materials, and Professional Publishing. The report does not include PreK-12 revenue due to delays in data collection but will be updated as soon as that data becomes available. Total revenues across all categories, excluding PreK-12, for August 2022 were down 9.0% as compared to August 2021, coming in at $1.4 billion. Year-to-date revenues were down 5.0%, at $7.9 billion for the first eight months of the year. Trade (Consumer Books) sales were down 10.5% in August, coming in at $744.3 million.
