Diversified Labeling Solutions is expanding its Auto ID product offering to include RAIN RFID labels. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) labels utilize an embedded UHF inlay to transmit data via radio waves to an RFID encoder. They are used in a wide variety of industries including supply chain and distribution, retail, consumer goods and healthcare to increase speed and accuracy of data collection. RAIN RFID is a global alliance promoting the universal adoption of UHF RFID technology. DLS has long been a leading supplier of Auto ID labels, including traditional 1D and 2D barcodes. Adding RAIN RFID labels to their portfolio allows distributors to provide comprehensive Auto ID and smart label solutions to their customers. With access to a huge array of inlays and face sheet materials, DLS can support almost any RFID label construction for stock or custom-printed RFID labels. DLS will also serve as the genuine OEM supplier for TSC Printronix Auto ID labels.

Mondi plc is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement to sell its Personal Care Components business (‘PCC’) to Nitto Denko Corporation (‘Nitto’) for an enterprise value of €615 million, which is also the approximate cash consideration payable to Mondi at completion (the ‘Transaction’). Mondi’s strategic focus to grow in packaging and the limited overlap of PCC with the rest of its business, has led Mondi to conclude that the next phase of PCC’s development will be better undertaken outside of the Group. PCC, part of the Group’s Engineered Materials business unit, manufactures a range of components for personal and home care products needed in everyday life such as diapers, feminine care, adult incontinence and wipes. For the financial year to 31 December 2020, PCC generated underlying EBITDA of €42 million.

Tetra Pak announced that it will be exiting its remaining operations in Russia. This is due to the cumulative impact of the restrictions on exports to Russia leading to an unsustainable supply chain, as a result of which the company is left with no other option than to exit the country. This follows the company’s earlier decision to suspend all new investments and projects in Russia, restricting its operations to support customers for essential food items only, in line with its strongly held commitment to the principle of people’s right to access safe food. Tetra Pak has now reached an agreement to divest its Russian business to local management, with the intention of enabling business continuity for its customers, minimizing the impact on employees, and continuing to support consumers’ access to essential food.
