Walmart names Huhtamaki Supplier of the Year

A few quick conversations with employees will confirm for anyone how these awards were earned at Huhtamaki. For all those who work to supply Walmart with the items they need for stores across the country, they all say the same thing — “It’s not just me.”

Everyone including the employees who make the product, sales management and commercialization, product managers, finance professionals, operations managers, and the logistics team are excited to make sure that high quality product reaches its destination on time.

“This award is a great honor, but what excites me more than the award is knowing that we are bringing in significant business that provides good jobs across our company,” Sarah Diebold, National Account Manager said. “I’m amazed every day at how well we work with each other across our company and at how much pride everyone takes in providing great products and the best service to our customers. I know I can rely on my coworkers at all levels and it’s a great feeling.”

The competition in our segment came from large, market-leading suppliers and Huhtamaki stepped up to the challenge by responding to Walmart’s strategic focus on store brands and developed an infrastructure to support the growth from that initiative.

“The attention to detail by everyone along the way is just incredible,” Meg Byrd, Sales Analyst said. “I know everyone is happy to pitch in and I hope they realize how critical their contribution is to our success. There is a lot of credit that should go out to everyone involved.”

The full portfolio of what Huhtamaki provides to Walmart includes:
Chinet® Classic White
Chinet® Comfort Cup
Chinet® Cut Crystal cups, plates, cutlery
Store brand (Great Value) plastic plates and bowls
Store brand insulated hot cup
Store brand fluted and printed, pressboard plates and bowls

“It’s certainly gratifying for the team to receive external validation of our approach and the results that it generates for our customers, and more importantly to me, it is a representation of how much more opportunity is ahead of us in the marketplace,” Sara Engber, Vice President – Retail Business Unit, said.
