Which Country Reads the Most? A Guide to Global Reading Habits

How savvy are you about the worldwide publishing industry? This infographic, “A Guide to Global Reading Habits” by Global English Editing lays out the facts. In recent years, e-readers and electronic books have become a major force in publishing. How major?  By 2018, e-books  are projected to account for over 25% of all book sales, up from 12% of book sales in 2013.

The infographic also includes a complete list of time spent reading around the globe and other worldwide reading facts. Compare this to the number of hours you read each week. When it comes to naming the most literate country in the world, the answer depends on how you define literacy. Finland is the most literate nation in the world based on the number of newspapers, computers, and libraries in the country, while Japan easily beats out the United States, China, and the U.K. when it comes to the percent of adults that read a book last year.

What about within the United States? Do you know which city reads the most? Four of the top ten cities are in states that touch the Pacific Ocean with Seattle claiming the top spot overall.
