Indian Trees outside Forests national standard submitted for endorsement

The Network for Certification and Conservation of Forests (NCCF) submitted their national Trees outside Forests certification standard to PEFC for endorsement in January 2020. The public consultation, which is your chance to give your feedback on this national standard, will run from 31 March until 30 May.

This is the first time NCCF, the PEFC national member for India, has applied for PEFC endorsement of its NCCF Trees outside Forests Certification Standard.

Trees outside Forests (TOF) certification was one of the innovative developments of the 2018 PEFC Sustainable Forest Management standard.

To provide you with additional information about this new TOF standard, we are holding a webinar on 31 March, at 10:00 CET. The webinar is free to attend, and everyone is welcome.

After developing the national standard in line with PEFC requirements, NCCF submitted it to PEFC for endorsement. The standard is now undergoing the PEFC assessment process, carried out by an independent PEFC Registered Assessor. It must pass this process and be approved by the PEFC General Assembly before it can achieve endorsement.

An important aspect of the assessment process is the public consultation. Over the sixty-day consultation, stakeholders from around the world can give their comments and provide feedback on any aspect of the standard. The Registered Assessor will use the information received from this consultation in their assessment of the standard.

Sustainable forest management in Myanmar one-step closer

One year on, and our project to support Myanmar as it reforms its forest sector is gathering pace. This was clear last month, as the Myanmar Forest Certification Committee (MFCC) held its first annual multi-stakeholder coordination meeting. The half-day coordination meeting was attended by a range of stakeholders, including the Myanmar Government’s Forestry Department, Timber Enterprise and Department of Research and Innovation, FAO, FLEGT VPA advisors, international and national NGOs, certification bodies and the private sector. This coordination meeting marks an important step in this 3-year project to support the country as it transitions to the sustainable management of its forests, funded jointly by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, PEFC and MFCC. Give your feedback on the Vietnamese national forest certification system

PEFC invites stakeholders around the world to comment on the Vietnamese national system, following its submission to PEFC for endorsement. To give your feedback, head to our Online Consultation Tool. This is the first time that Vietnam has submitted its national forest certification system, marking an important step towards PEFC certification in the country. Make your comments now! The deadline is 25 November. The Viet Nam Forest Certification System (VFCS) joined the PEFC alliance in June earlier this year, becoming our 50th national member.
