Mondi’s renewable packaging material helps Paulig Coffee lower carbon footprint. Climate change is harming our planet’s fragile ecosystems, driving the movement for drastic cuts to carbon emissions at a global scale. All industries have a part to play in this transition towards a low-carbon economy, including manufacturers of consumer goods. The snacks, seasoning and coffee producer Paulig Group, together with Mondi, is responding to this challenge. Paulig Coffee brand is the market leader in Finland and the Baltics, and is the second largest provider of coffee in Russia. The company strategically works to reduce its environmental footprint. In Finland for example, all its coffee roasteries run entirely on renewable energy. Paulig has made a commitment to reduce its carbon emissions by 40% by 2020. The development programme for Metsä Board's white kraftliner mill in Kemi has been completed in parallel with Metsä Fibre's new bioproduct mill. Metsä Board and Metsä Fibre are part of Metsä Group. In addition to increasing the mill’s capacity by 40,000 tonnes per year, the development programme will reduce the mill's energy consumption by 5% and water consumption by around 40% per tonne produced. The Kemi paperboard mill is the world's largest producer of coated white top kraftliner and its products are used as a surface material for corrugated packaging worldwide. The development programme will increase Kemi’s annual production capacity of white kraftliners to 465,000 tonnes, with the majority being sold in Europe and North America.

Amcor Rigid Packaging (ARP) introduces the DairySeal™ line of packaging that features ClearCor™, an advanced polyethylene terephthalate (PET) barrier. With the introduction of DairySeal, the exploding nutritional, dairy alternatives, and ready-to-drink (RTD) market will now have a more sustainable packaging option that can be leveraged across all retail channels. The ClearCor PET barrier technology is a concentrated capsulation in the center of the preform that allows more flexibility and resin options. This technology positively impacts the overall performance of the barrier in the packaging and maintains recyclability. The DairySeal line of packaging can be made with up to 80 percent of recyclable material while maintaining superior taste and performance for the brand.
