Join us for the 2017 PEFC Stakeholder Dialogue ‘Making Certification SMART’ (16-17 November 2017; Helsinki, Finland) to find out more!

Wide-ranging applications provide solutions for everyday challenges such as improving transparency in complex supply chains, enhancing the ability to map, monitor or manage forest resources, or establishing new ways to engage stakeholders and improve cooperation.

Our two-day dialogue will explore and discover new and emerging technologies which show promise for supporting forest certification.

Together, we will exchange views on what is needed, what is working and where are the opportunities for scaling up application.

The backdrop of Finland and the PEFC Forest Certification Week provides a ripe moment to exchange experiences and challenge each other to re-imagine how forest certification should re-equip for the next decade.

The two-day event will combine one day in conference setting with a one-day field trip to enable optimal exchange, demonstration and in-depth discussion on the topic.

Apple’s newest campus includes 9000 trees!

Apple has introduced a new campus called the ‘Apple Park’ in Cupertino, California. It is reported that 80 percent of it will feature landscaping, which is set to include 9,000 trees. The new structure spans about a mile in circumference and is a single ring. The entire facility is powered by renewable energy. Solar panels on the roof generate up to 17 megawatts of power, enough for 75 percent of demand during peak times. Help FSC streamline its standard setting processes by contributing to our second public consultation

FSC-PRO-01-001 The Development and Revision of FSC® Requirements provides the process steps for how to develop, review, revise, and withdraw international FSC requirements. FSC invites you to participate in the second public consultation of the procedure from 29 April – 30 June 2022 via the FSC Consultation Platform. Our normative framework (policies, standards, procedures, among other documents) is the backbone of how we protect and manage forests worldwide. International FSC requirements are produced following the steps set out in FSC-PRO-01-001. Revising this procedure is thus key in streamlining FSC’s normative framework to produce adaptive and user-friendly documents and continue effectively delivering on the FSC mission. Streamlining the FSC normative framework is a key goal in the FSC Global Strategy and we are looking for feedback from stakeholders to support this effort.

Indonesia and Japan take the spotlight at PEFC General Assembly award ceremony

With an increase of almost two million hectares of PEFC-certified forests in Indonesia over the past year, the Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation (IFCC) took top prize for growth during our PEFC Forest Certification Week award ceremony. “Without the tremendous support from everyone within the PEFC family and without the strong commitment and hard work from all members of the IFCC family, we would have never arrived at this proud state,” said Dradjad Wibowo, Chairman of IFCC. “So, IFCC thanks everyone from the PEFC and IFCC families for this!
