DS Smith Packaging Roanoke Wins National ADDY Award for Innovative Design

DS Smith Packaging Roanoke has been awarded a National Silver ADDY Award for Advertising Industry Self-Promotion Cards, Invitations or Announcements.

National ADDY® Award Winners were honored Friday, June 8 at the American Advertising Awards ceremony, during ADMERICA 2018, the AAF’s annual national conference. The winners were selected from more than 34,000 entries nationally and had won at local and regional levels before advancing to the national competition. This piece was also awarded an AAF-District 3 Gold ADDY Award as well as an AAF-Roanoke local Gold ADDY Award.

This is the second National Silver ADDY Award win for one of the company’s self-promotion pieces, and they were the only corrugated display and packaging manufacturing company with an in-house design group to win a National ADDY Award.

This award was given for the CCCBox Series Convertible Giveaway, which was gifted to customers during the 2017 holiday season. The convertible was designed, illustrated, printed and assembled in house and is made from E flute corrugated board, 4-color process flexo printed and die cut.

CCCBox refers to Corrugated Container Corporation (CCC), the company’s name prior to acquisition by DS Smith. The design is a reproduction of the convertible that Jerry Higginbotham, one of CCC’s original owners, purchased in 1975. When Mr. Higginbotham lost his battle with cancer in 2015, the company decided to honor his memory by using his beloved car as the model for this second capabilities piece in their CCCBox series.

The complex details, including the intricate illustrations and removable convertible top, highlight DS Smith Packaging Roanoke’s advanced in-house printing, cutting and assembly capabilities.
