Hans Sohlström appointed President and CEO of Ahlstrom-Munksjö

The Board of Directors has today appointed Hans Sohlström President and CEO of Ahlstrom-Munksjö, effective as of June 30, 2018, at the latest. Sohlström is currently the President and CEO of Ahlström Capital Group.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s current President and CEO Jan Åström, (b. 1956), will retire from the position on June 30, 2018, at the latest. He has been the President and CEO of the company since its creation through the merger of Ahlstrom Corporation and Munksjö Oyj on April 1, 2017, and before that he was the President and CEO of Munksjö since 2008.

As previously communicated we expect to deliver above the original synergy plan and the synergy benefits are already clearly visible in our results. The Board feels that we are now in a natural and strong position to move forward. With the appointment of Hans Sohlström as the new CEO in Ahlstrom-Munksjö we expect him to take us to the next level by continuing in executing on our long-term financial targets and our strategic growth plan. Euro-Graph Reports June 2022 Statistics of the European Graphic Papers Industry

Total European shipments of graphic papers in June 2022 were down 16.4% vs. 2021 and are down 10.2% year-to-date. Total European shipments of newsprint in June 2022 were down 10.7% vs. 2021 and are down 6.9% year-to-date. Total European shipments of sc-magazine in June 2022 were down 20.2% vs. 2021 and are down 11.2% year-to-date. Total European shipments of coated mechanical reels in June 2022 were down 28.1% vs. 2021 and are down 21.0% year-to-date. Total European shipments of uncoated mechanical (improved & others) in June 2022 were down 22.2% vs. 2021 and are down 12.3% year-to-date. Total European shipments of coated woodfree in June 2022 were down 8.8% vs. 2021 and are UP 0.6% year-to-date. Total European shipments of uncoated woodfree in June 2022 were down 14.8% vs. 2021 and are down 11.8% year-to-date.

Rumford Mill Wraps Up Historic Outage

The Rumford outage recently wrapped up a historic outage and we would like to thank everyone for the hard work over the past few months.This outage was a massive undertaking, and we are excited for a more efficient and more productive future. Throughout August and September, the historic mill received a deep-cleaning, some much-needed TLC, and several major repairs and significant projects took place throughout the mill. This outage is a significant milestone in ND Paper’s commitment to operational efficiency and safety and approximately 1,000 contractors were on site performing various functions. Unlike the simultaneous annual outage, a cold outage involved a complete shutdown of all equipment and electricity. This pause in production allowed our team to make critical repairs and replacement on typically inaccessible machinery. The cold outage spanned nine days (September 5th to September 14th) and included major steam, air, water, electrical and sewer system repairs. All four boilers were taken offline, allowing for the execution of 88 work orders focused on steam system leaks and valve issues.
