HMH Named Finalist in Nine 2024 CODiE Award Categories

Learning technology company HMH has been named a finalist in nine categories for the 2024 CODiE Awards, including “Best Suite of Connected/Integrated Solutions” for its comprehensive core, intervention, assessment and professional learning offerings. Presented by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the CODiE Awards honor excellence in leading technology products and services, with awards given to products demonstrating innovation, vision and overall industry impact.

Penguin Random House is offering enhanced two-day shipping for independent booksellers starting October 1 and running through March 1, 2022. Of particular note, the company is waiving the minimum-retail-value requirement for orders. The program covers frontlist and backlist titles from all PRH's divisions as well as all the clients of Penguin Random House Publisher Services. The enhanced service also comes as concerns over possible supply chain disruptions grow, something alluded to in a statement from Jaci Updike, president. U.S. sales, for PRH: “While we can’t 100% predict what the supply chain will look like in the fourth quarter this year, we do know that rapid replenishment is a key element of profitability and success at the all-important holiday season, and as always, we want to step up our efforts to get books into stores as quickly as possible. Some things are out of our control – including the unprecedented challenges the shipping companies are facing – but the PRH team is committed to going above-and-beyond to pick and pack indie orders with full speed,” Updike said.

Pearson announces the sale of GEDU to Puxin Education

Pearson is announcing that it has completed the sale of Global Education (GEDU) to Puxin Education. The disposal, together with the sale of associated property assets, is expected to generate gross cash proceeds to Pearson in the region of $80m. GEDU is a leading provider of English language training and test preparation for Chinese students wishing to study abroad. In 2016 the business served 64,000 learners with revenue of £78m and an adjusted operating loss of £4m. In 2016 GEDU had approximately 1,900 FTE employees.
