HP Creates Powerful Digital Print Possibilities with New Benchmarks for Quality, Productivity and Color

Today at PRINT 17, HP Inc. announced the HP Indigo 12000 HD Digital Press with breakthrough high definition imaging, and new print performance technology for HP PageWide Web Presses, setting new industry benchmarks for quality, productivity and color. These solutions are yet another step by HP in leading the acceleration of the analog-to-digital graphics printing transformation.

The High Definition Imaging System for the B2-sized HP Indigo 12000 HD Digital Press doubles image resolution to 1625 dpi, delivering sharper, smoother, finer print. With this high addressability print resolution, print service providers (PSPs) can surpass offset quality and open new digital possibilities in high-end commercial and photo applications.

HP Indigo’s market-leading1 Series 4 large format platform has already reached 600 presses operating worldwide, with the sale last week of two HP Indigo 12000 digital presses at American Litho.

For HP PageWide Web Presses, Performance HDK mode is a new optimization technology for High Definition Nozzle Architecture (HDNA) printing. Now available for the HP PageWide Web T240 HD, it offers improved quality in color or mono at full press speed of 500 feet per minute. As a result, more high-quality digital pages can be economically produced on inkjet for publishing, direct mail and commercial print.

Raw material shortage for UV inks and possible supply disruption

Currently, there is a specific global raw material shortage affecting UV curing inks. This impacts supply of a UV photoinitiator commonly known as “TPO.” While supply of TPO comes from several different manufacturers, a key chemical feedstock used in the manufacture of TPO (and other similar photoinitiators) comes from one main upstream source in China. The manufacturing of this feedstock has been temporarily halted while inspections are undertaken due to an unrelated incident in the same industrial zone. This incident comes within the wider context of similar unplanned shut downs of UV raw material capacity in China and a tighter regulatory environment in Europe limiting alternative options. This supply disruption means that the feedstock cannot be produced at present and supplies are now at critically low levels globally, which has impacted the availability and production of TPO itself. We anticipate the situation will be resolved in a matter of weeks but are taking actions to cover our supply in the meantime. Hudson Printing Showcases Landa S10P During Open House, Announces Second S10P Installation (piworld.com)

With the backdrop of snow-capped mountains in the distance, customers of Hudson Printing in Salt Lake City entered the commercial printer's 120,000-sq.-ft. facility on May 5 for its first-ever open house. The event was intended to give attendees a tour of the facility, as well as a peek at the company's new Landa S10P nanographic printing press with perfector, which has been up and running since November 2021. Although seeing the Landa S10P running in person was a major draw during the event, Hudson Printing also announced that the 113-year-old company would in fact be installing a second Landa S10P later this year. Paul Hudson, CEO of Hudson Printing, explained that the company does a large amount of personalization printing, an area in which the Landa press has proven to be a success.
